Manuel PanDavila has utilised his sand control expertise to evaluate the conceptual design of the existing wells in the field and deliver an optimised sand mitigation strategy that will ultimately enhance productivity and future viability for Origin Energy to develop the Manutahi field.
The second phase of the work scope was to provide a commercial and technical assessments of sand control technologies, detailed fluids design and testing, and a comprehensive completions program for the three well development to prove the optimised sand control design.
The third and final phase of the Manutahi development was to successfully execute the gravel packs for Origin Energy. Employing the two previous phases of work, detailed programs were developed for the operation which included a single cased hole gravel pack and two open hole gravel packs. The scope of support included well site supervision, 3rd party contractor management and interfacing between rig site, contractors and Origin office. Responsibilities for the operations included equipment inspection, well site rig-up optimisation for pumping , gravel infusion, downhole tools and fluids management.
The operations were executed flawlessly throughout all sequences of the installation. The wells were immediately bought online and are producing successfully without sand.
